A book is a doorway into another realm—a conscious step beyond our creature comforts. Allowing us to experience the lives and cultures of others, teaching us empathy, evoking emotions and sparking inspiration while reminding us of our shared humanity. South Africa is built on the bedrock of story telling. Listening to our grandparents tell tales of their childhood, dedicating prose to the intangible beauty of our nature or turning any situation into a humorous anecdote, we are a web of intertwined tales.

Page Turners vision is to build those doorways and invest in those talents by supporting local and self-published authors in diverse genres across all 12 official South African languages. Creating space for books to be discovered, shared, and celebrated. Connecting authors, creators and readers. Removing one obstacle in the journey to their dreams coming true.

The Naming – Aisha Adam

The Naming is a work of psychological literary fiction that follows a teenage girl’s first admission to a mental healthcare facility in South Africa, where she receives a diagnosis of bipolar disorder. Told through the intimate interior voice of its protagonist, the story traces the experience of psychiatric assessment, institutional life, and the fragile process of understanding one’s own mind.
Rather than focusing on external plot, the narrative explores the inner landscape of a young girl confronting the moment her suffering is finally given a name. Through this deeply personal lens, The Naming examines stigma, diagnosis, identity, and the complex relationship between illness and self-understanding.

Set against the backdrop of South Africa’s growing mental health crisis, the story seeks to humanise psychiatric care and give literary voice to experiences that are often misunderstood or silenced.

Wanted – Sameera Kassim

Wanted is a contemporary second-chance romance that follows Enzo Marino, a widowed single father who believes his heart died with his wife. Focused entirely on raising his son and protecting what remains of his family, Enzo keeps love at a distance until Elena, the warm and determined nanny caring for his child, quietly slips past the walls he built around himself.
When a painful mistake shatters their fragile bond, harsh words and broken trust drive Elena away, leaving Enzo to confront emotions he never intended to feel again. Months of silence force him to face a truth he tried to deny: he has fallen in love again.
Blending emotional intensity with themes of grief, forgiveness, and healing, Wanted explores the courage it takes to open one’s heart after loss, and whether love can survive when trust has already been broken.

Shades of Loyalty – Meghan Valery

Shades of Loyalty is a New Adult epic fantasy set in a world where dragons are not merely legends but living forces intertwined with power, family, and survival. At the centre of the story is Evynore, a young dragoness whose life is bound to a mysterious destiny as she navigates loyalty, identity, and the fragile bonds that define what it means to belong.
Raised alongside her siblings by their adoptive mother, a former warrior wyvern named Fodi, Evynore has known a life shaped by exile and quiet resilience. But when unexpected travellers arrive carrying promises of peace between dragons and humans, their fragile world begins to shift in ways none of them are prepared for.
Blending mythic storytelling with political intrigue and themes of chosen family, Shades of Loyalty explores the tension between destiny and autonomy in a world where loyalty may be forged not by blood, but by the bonds we choose to defend.

Disillusionment – M.H. Faith

Disillusionment is a contemporary drama that explores the emotional aftermath of domestic abuse and the long, complicated road toward healing. The story follows Dawn, also known as Aurora, as she leaves behind a relationship that shattered her sense of self and begins the difficult process of rebuilding a life that feels safe again.
Rather than portraying recovery as quick or simple, the narrative focuses on the quiet, messy reality of survival. Supported by her fiercely protective brother and the steady presence of someone who offers kindness without expectation, Dawn must learn to trust herself, her choices, and the fragile possibility of love again.
Through deeply human moments of pain, resilience, and hope, Disillusionment examines identity, trauma, and the courage it takes to rediscover who you are after everything you believed in has fallen apart.

Secrets of the Stars – B Fields

Secrets of the Stars is a young adult romantic fantasy set in a world divided between three powerful kingdoms, each drawing magic from a different source: gemstones, starlight, and the living earth. At the centre of the story is Julianna, a gifted artist whose rare ability to sculpt gemstones into living works of art earns her a place as the royal court artist of the Kingdom of Emeralde.
As she enters the palace, Julianna’s life becomes entangled with Prince Killian, the brooding heir bound by duty and an arranged marriage that leaves little room for the feelings growing between them. But whispers of rebellion, ancient magic stirring beneath the palace, and the search for a lost heir begin to reveal that Julianna’s past may be far more dangerous than she ever imagined.
Blending slow-burn romance, court intrigue, and magical destiny, Secrets of the Stars explores identity, power, and the hidden truths that can reshape kingdoms when they finally come to light
